Data We Collect
- Favorites are stored locally on your device.
- App preferences are stored locally on your device.
- Home zip/postal code is stored locally on your device and may be stored server-side when Alerts are enabled.
- When Alerts are enabled, we collect a device identifier and push notification identifiers (for example, OneSignal player ID/token).
- We collect alert configuration data and alert activity, including matches and delivery logs.
- If you sign in to VIN Build Check, we collect your account email address, authentication identifier, token balance data, VIN Build Check unlock library, lookup history, and related account activity.
- If you sign in with Apple or Google, your sign-in provider may provide and Supabase may retain your name and profile image or profile-image URL as part of authentication metadata.
- If you sign in to VIN Build Check, we record the date of your most recent account activity (for example, using the app while signed in, looking up a VIN Build Check, or making a purchase). This is used to identify inactive accounts for deletion.
- If you use subscriptions, we collect subscription status data and may store receipt or purchase token data for validation and fraud prevention.
- If you buy VIN Build Check tokens, we may collect purchase provider, product, transaction, receipt, purchase token, refund, validation, delivery, and token-consumption data.
- We may store derived approximate coordinates from your zip/postal code for distance filtering.
- If you submit a vehicle report, we store report details such as VIN, report reason, and an anonymous device identifier.
- We may collect technical metadata such as app version, platform, and locale.
- We do not collect your contacts.
How We Use Data
- To provide vehicle search, filtering, alerts, and related app features.
- To register your device for alerts and deliver push notifications.
- To validate subscription and entitlement status.
- To provide VIN Build Check accounts, token balances, VIN Build Check unlock libraries, VIN lookups, and VIN Build Check refreshes.
- To apply optional distance-based filtering when configured.
- To monitor, secure, troubleshoot, and improve app reliability.
Third-Party Processors
- Supabase is used for backend data storage and processing.
- OneSignal is used for push notification delivery.
- Apple and Google may process data you provide through sign-in, in-app purchase, app distribution, and platform services.
Data Sharing
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We share data only with service providers needed to operate app functionality, or when required by law.
- If you buy VIN Build Check tokens, we may share purchase delivery and consumption information with Apple or Google when needed for refund, chargeback, fraud-prevention, or platform compliance review.
Data Retention
- Local on-device data remains on your device until you remove it, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
- Alert and device records are retained while active and may be retained for a limited period afterward for fraud prevention, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and legal compliance.
- VIN Build Check account records, including VIN Build Check unlocks, token balances, and account-linked lookup history, are retained while your VIN Build Check account is active.
- VIN Build Check accounts with no activity for 24 consecutive months and no remaining purchased token balance may be deleted, including the account profile, VIN Build Check unlock library, and lookup history. We make a reasonable attempt to notify the account email address before deletion. Signing in and using the app keeps your account active.
- Accounts with a remaining purchased token balance are excluded from automatic inactivity deletion. Unnecessary account activity and history may still be deleted or anonymized while the account and purchased token balance are preserved. Purchased tokens do not expire.
- Shared historical vehicle report data may be retained separately from your account so other users can access report history and to preserve de-identified app functionality.
- Subscription validation records may be retained for billing support, fraud prevention, tax/accounting, and legal compliance.
- VIN Build Check token purchase, refund, and consumption compliance records may be retained for up to seven (7) years when needed for billing support, fraud prevention, tax/accounting, chargeback handling, platform compliance, and legal compliance. After account deletion, these records may be retained without your raw email or raw user ID and keyed by store transaction identifiers or salted hashes.
- When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period.
Your Choices
- You can change or remove your home zip/postal code in Settings.
- You can disable notifications in your device settings.
- You can stop using Alerts at any time.
- You can request deletion of backend device-linked data by contacting us and providing your device UUID from the app's diagnostic/settings screen.
- You can delete your VIN Build Check account in the app from VIN Build Check > Account > Delete VIN Build Check Account.
- You can also request account and data deletion at Delete Account.
